1 Month Check-up!

When Matthew was born, he weighed 7 lb. 7 oz. His weight dropped to 6 lb. 14 oz. When we went to the doctor on Monday for his 1 month check-up, Matthew weighed 9 lb. 9.5 oz! I was thinking maybe 8 1/2, but would never have guessed over 9!

Matt got one shot. He screamed for a second, but calmed down quickly...Mom was very thankful. He even got a big boy band-aid!

5 Weeks Old!

Matt wore his I love my Mummy t-shirt for Halloween. It was also the first day that Matt wore jeans and shoes! I think that we will stick with the "baby" clothes for a little while longer. I don't want him to grow up too quickly :) He did look pretty cute in the jeans!

Nate is such a great big cousin...he is practicing being a big brother! Joel, Lee-Anne and Nate leave on November 6th for China. They will be home on the 19th with Naomi!

2 Weeks

Matthew is now two weeks old...in a way I feel like he has been a part of our lives forever. What a precious little blessing! October 8th of this week was Matthew's due date...it was also our Wedding Anniversary. Taylor and I have been married for three years. We celebrated with dinner from BW3s.

One week ago today...

*Matthew's billi level is now 13.1 and we have graduated from the light box! *

It is so hard to believe that Matthew has already been here a week. Last Wednesday we had parent teacher conferences at school. Several people asked when I was due and I said, "at least two more weeks!" Little did I know I would be in labor that night!

We left for the hospital a little after 2am after I realized that my water had broken. On the way to the hospital, Taylor asked, "aren't you supposed to be having contractions?" I wasn't really sure what was supposed to be happening, but was thankful not to be in any pain! We arrived at the hospital around 2:30am. I was still only 2 centimeters, but since my water had broken I had to stay in bed. They started a pitocin drip at 6am and I had an epidural by 9am. Throughout the day the nurses were monitoring my contractions and Matthew's heart rate. Around 1pm Matthew's heart rate was a little hard to detect, so they were going to change the way they were monitoring it. The doctor came in...the nurse handed him the monitor...he handed it right back and said that we were 9 1/2 centimeters and would be pushing in the next hour!

After 45 minutes of pushing, Matthew made his arrival into the world @ 3:27.

Matthew under the lights...due to being jaundice, Matthew is having to stay under lights. He does really well and I feel blessed that he hasn't been fussy. We need his jaundice levels to go down and his weight to go up. The weight is headed up...from 6 lb 14 ou on Wednesday to 7 lb 1 ou on Thursday. I am waiting to hear back about his billi count.

We are having to keep track of Matthew's intake, so he is getting to be fed by a bottle. This is a picture of Daddy's first feeding!
